Gawker’s attorney Gregg Thomas filed an “emergency motion to stay” on behalf of Denton and A.J. Then, on Monday (July 25), there was significant activity related to the most-recent appeal filed by Gawker against Hogan. – In the Florida appeals court, the three individual appeals cases filed by Gawker/Denton against Hogan were dormant for about a month while waiting for the Bankruptcy proceedings to play out. Some documents have remained sealed, per agreements between the two sides. – Over in Florida, the Pinellas County Circuit Court, where the case originated, released thousands of court documents for individual public view dating back to when the invasion of privacy/defamation case began in October 2012. Gawker also noted that founder Nick Denton received a $500,000 annual salary over a one-year period from Jto June 10, 2016. If doubled to an estimated full year, that figure is down significantly from total 2015 revenue of $48.7 million and $43.7 million in 2014. Included was the company’s gross revenue of $17.8 million for about the first half of 2016 (January 1 to July 21). On July 21, Gawker presented a schedule of assets and liabilities, plus a statement of their financial affairs to the court.
